ABSTRACT
While oocyte retrieval was performed laparoscopically in the early days of in vitro fertilization treatment, the first cases of transvaginal oocyte retrieval began to be reported in the early 1980s. The transvaginal route has many advantages over transabdominal and laparoscopy. Although oocyte collection by the transvaginal route is more advantageous, in some cases, the transabdominal route may be preferred. Transabdominal approach can be preferred especially in case of higher located ovaries where it is difficult to reach the ovaries by transvaginal route. In our case series, 6 cases who applied to in vitro fertilization center between January 2022 and March 2023 and whose oocytes were collected transabdominally, are presented. Our aim is to show that transabdominal oocyte retrieval as a new method can be a safe alternative for patients who do not prefer the transvaginal route, and to contribute to the literature on the management of complications that may occur.
